4 Video Marketing Mistakes You Are Making

If you are using more videos in your marketing, you are definitely headed in the right direction. As people love watching videos and consumption is only going higher. But if you aren’t generating sufficient views and conversions from your videos, you are probably making a few mistakes that are costing. Therefore, to help you avoid these mistakes, I have shared some tips below…

Not creating videos for a specific audience:

One of the reasons why most videos fail is that they are created for everyone. People want to drive millions of views. So, the creators hope that if they create a video for everyone they will generate the highest engagement. But this simply isn’t true. If you want to generate the most views and engagement you need to create it for a very specific audience. The more this audience likes it, the more number of times they will watch it and recommend it for everyone they know.

So, figure out who your audience is and then create videos for them. If you have multiple audiences you can create multiple videos that suit each audience.

Not creating different videos for different platforms:

There are multiple sites to post videos on. Some of the most popular ones are Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Vimeo, and YouTube.

One of the common mistakes people make while trying to expand their reach through multiple platforms is to just post the same video on all of them. This can help expand your reach a bit, but to get maximum exposure you should optimize each video for different networks. This is because different video dimensions, lengths, styles, etc. will work on different networks.

So, do some research on each platform before you post. This should include finding out what works and what your followers want to see. Then create unique videos for each platform. If you don’t have the time to create videos for each platform, at least edit the video dimensions and lengths before you publish them.

There are several good video editing apps that can help you do this quickly.

Not promoting:

No matter how good your video is, you won’t generate views, followers, and sales automatically. So, have a good promotion strategy in place that gets you those views. This should include both free and paid methods.

Some good organic methods are sharing on social media and influencer outreach. You can also use paid influencer outreach. Another good paid method is ads. Many video creators avoid using ads as they want to get as many free views as possible. But remember that when you don’t use paid methods, you are paying for with your time.

So, if you want to save time, running ads would be a better option. But make sure you combine the video views with a funnel that will drive leads and sales. As you need to see an ROI for your ads to ensure it is sustainable.

Not using calls to action:

Most social networks and other video platforms make it easy to add calls to actions in your posts. For example on Instagram you can tag products in posts and on YouTube you can link to pages in the end cards. So, instead of just adding the link to the description you should embed calls to action in the video itself and get people to click on the links.

This should help you drive sales, or build your email list or accomplish whatever your video marketing goal is quicker. As more people will see a call to action that is right within the video.

Conclusion:

These are the 4 common video marketing mistakes you are probably making. Stay clear of these to drive more engagement, traffic, and sales.
