Have you ever wished you could own a cat or dog, but your allergies have prevented you from living that dream? Have you ever wished you could bring your old pet back to life? Have you ever wished you could be a dog or cat breeder or be involved in a dog show, but lacked the motivation or wherewithal to make it happen?
Well, thanks to the new Metaverse, these dreams can now become a reality… a virtual reality. According to Mark Zuckerberg, the MetaVerse is a place where, “You’re going to be able to do almost anything you can imagine.” Naturally, for millions of Americans, these imaginings would include pets.
There are already four major pet platforms in the MetaVerse, and each one of them offers unique experiences of virtual pet ownership.
The MetaPets platform allows users to design and own a digital pet, which could easily resemble a real pet. These pets can be trained and dressed and can interact with owners. Users can even generate revenue from these virtual pets.
Other MetaVerse pet platforms include the Axie Infinity platform, which uses NFTs and involves pet breeding; the MetaGochi platform is a major upgrade to the original Tamagochi pets created in the 90’s. Finally, CyrptoKitties allows users to buy and collect virtual cats, play games with other users, collect limited edition Fancy Cats, and unlock rare cat traits.
