What’s on the Horizon for Cannabis Legalization?

As of 2023, 42% of all US states have legalized the use of recreational marijuana, and 37 states approve of the use of medical marijuana. This trend is expected to continue, with more changes coming in the years ahead. Only two states, Idaho and Nebraska, still do not approve of CBD or marijuana use at all.

The nation is warming up to the idea of legal cannabis, with 59% supporting medical and recreational use. 30% of citizens support medical use only, and a meager 10% do not support legalization at all. About 44% of Americans live in states with access to legal recreational marijuana. Legislation surrounding marijuana and CBD is constantly in flux. Experts predict that victories in the legalization of marijuana will continue to happen at the state and local levels. Tyler McFadden, a board member of BOWL PAC, believes that legalization might not happen immediately, but continuous efforts could expedite the process.

Legalization for cannabis  has even won the support of the executive branch. President Joe Biden believes that sending people to prison for possessing marijuana has upended too many lives and incarcerated people for conduct that many states no longer prohibit. The legislation surrounding marijuana and CBD is constantly changing, and this trend is expected to continue.
